Car of the Year 1969

1969 roadrunner

The Plymouth RoadRunner became the no frills affordable hit of the year. It came as a 2 door coupe with standard, a 383 cubic-inch V8 engine and a four-speed manual transmission. It had bench seats, no radio, no AC and was faster than most police cars of the day. Its speed and reliability made it a favorite of moon shiners. The marketing plan of selling a muscle car for under $3000 was a success.
